When Canyon, Colorado’s most important annual gala loses its venue the day before the
event, Hank (Greg Lawson, “Wynonna Earp”) offers for Isabel and the McMurrays to host at their barn. Unfortunately, the dusty, old barn is nowhere near the standards of the gala chair, Barbara Sutton (Rachel Crawford, “Heartland”) – Isabel’s friendly rival. Not one to give up, Isabel mobilizes everyone at the ranch to help spiff the barn up overnight. With the gala quickly approaching, the venue isn’t the only thing that needs a makeover, as Isabel persuades Cash (Mirchoff) that charming the judges there is as important a step to winning as any of his other training. Thankfully his coach Missy (Skovbye) is just the person to help. For her part, Missy is struggling with her own riding and must figure out why or risk losing her sponsorship deal. Now stepping into her role as co-foreman alongside Tuff (Foy), Valeria (Garcia) is frustrated when the ranch hands are not taking her promotion seriously. Tuff – still reeling from witnessing her mysterious encounter the other night – tries to uncover what Valeria’s really hiding. Despite everyone’s hard work, they realize that won’t stop the town of Canyon from gossiping about the McMurray family curse.

determined to make this year different. When they can’t get Isabel to leave the stables, they call in the local farrier, Cody (James Tupper, “Big Little Lies”), to help. Valeria (Garcia), still trying to find her footing as a new boss, tries to work her way into the ranch-hand boys club via their traditional Poker game. Valeria gets a less than cordial reception from Tuff, who is more suspicious after finding her stash of fake IDs. Bothered by a run-in with her disapproving mother (Tammy Isbell, “Murdoch Mysteries”) and the fate of her Frontier Jeans contract, Missy (Skovbye) gets her mind off of things when Gus (Moore) asks her to give his niece Sophie (newcomer Isla Spencer) riding lessons. As they tour the ranch, Gus and Missy grow closer, but the moment is short-lived when an emergency strikes the ranch, and everyone is pulled in to help before it’s too late.

At the ranch, Hank (Greg Lawson, “Heartland”) surprises Isabel with some exciting news, but she doesn’t take it as well as he hopes. When the McMurrays get word that a big rainstorm has shifted and is expected to hit the ranch by nightfall, everyone works together to save all of the hay bales but have no hope of succeeding with just one working tractor. Valeria (Garcia) must put aside her differences with Tuff (Foy) to try and revive one of Dusty’s broken, old rigs. The task seems impossible, and so the pair considers an offer of help from an unlikely source. When Missy and Cash return, tensions from the day’s events create a perfect storm.
