In 2021, Lifetime released an original movie based on an incredible true story of Dr. Martin MacNeill and his family including wife Michele and daughter Alexis. As Alexis uncovered her father’s secrets, the truth came out. This once renowned doctor was found guilty of murdering her mother, Michele. At one time, Alexis went by the name of Alexis MacNeill and very proudly. She always looked up to her father as an extremely successful doctor. However, when she accused her father and he was found guilty of murdering her mom, Michele, Alexis dropped that name.
The tragic events took place in 2007 when Alexis’s father Dr. Martin MacNeill took her mother Michele’s life by drugging her and drowning her in a bathtub. After so many painful years and a conviction sentence, Dr. Martin MacNeill took his own life while in jail on April 9, 2017. Two days short of the 10 year annivers ary of his wife’s death.
Today, Martin & Michele MacNeill’s daughter goes by the name of Alexis Somers. And yes, she followed her dream of becoming a doctor herself.
Dr. Alexis Somers practices in her home state of South Jordan, Utah. She is a family medicine physician, earning her medical degree from Touro University College of Osteopathic Medicine. The Utah based doctor received a 5 Star rating. One patient exclaimed, “I absolutely adore her, the U of U is lucky to have her on staff!!”
As of 2023, Alexis is 40 years old. She is married with three children of her own. Alexis gave birth to her twins a week before she had to testify against her father in court. The twins are currently 9 and 11 years old.
Many people took the stand to testify in the court case of Dr. Martin MacNeill and Michele MacNeill including Alexis’s sisters Vanessa and Rachel.
