Twas the Text Before Christmas is a new original movie premiering October 21, 2023 as part of Great American Family Channel‘s “Great American Christmas” lineup. Starring Merritt Patterson and Trevor Donovan, the film follows two strangers who slowly become more than friends over the holidays. This film also reunites Merritt Patterson and Trevor Donovan, who previously starred in 2021’s Jingle Bell Princess on GAC. See a preview, photos, plot details and more below.

What is Twas the Text Before Christmas about?

Addie (Merritt Patterson) is a New York City chiropractor. One day, she mistakenly receives a text from “Nana.” The accidental text turns into a friendship between Nana and Addie who now communicate regularly. Nana invites Addie to spend the holiday in Vermont. It is picture-perfect and exactly as Nana described except for one surprise. Nana’s single son, James (Trevor Donovan), a traveling doctor is also home for the holidays. Over three consecutive years, James and Addie are together during the holidays. Although, it isn’t until they are both single that they begin to see each other in a different light.

Who’s in the Cast of Twas the Text Before Christmas?

Merritt Patterson as Addie

Merritt Patterson is an actress who appeared in GAC’s Jingle Bell Princess and Catering Christmas. Patterson also starred in films such as A Royal Winter and The Christmas Cottage for Hallmark. Other credits include Ravenswood, Radio Rebel and The Royals. In 2022, Merritt married longtime boyfriend JR Ringer. The two enjoy traveling, hiking and spending time with friends and family.

Trevor Donovan as James

Trevor Donovan is an actor who starred in the hit CW series 90210. Since then, he’s appeared in various Hallmark Channel films like Marry Me at Christmas, Snowcoming, USS Christmas and Nantucket Noel. In 2021, Donovan appeared alongside Merritt Patterson in GAC’s Jingle Bell Princess. Most recently, Trevor reunited with his former 90210 co-star Jessica Lowndes in the Great American Family Channel film A Harvest Homecoming

. When he’s not working, Trevor is active on social media and has three dogs to take care of.
