Mario Lopez is joining the GAC family this holiday season. In 2024’s Great American Christmas lineup, he, alongside his real-life wife and son, will appear in a new holiday movie called My Grown Up Christmas Wish. What is My Grown Up Christmas Wish about?

Mayor Brian Ortega (Mario Lopez) is beloved in the idyllic community of Long Grove. While decorating for Christmas with the residents, Brian discovers his childhood Christmas wish list which magically begins to come true. This reminds Brian about the spirit and joy of the holiday. Returning to town for Christmas is Brian’s childhood friend Nina Meyers (Courtney Lopez). Soon, a connection becomes undeniable as she helps Brian face a new challenge for the town. As Brian’s wishes come true, he inspires the town to showcase its warm culture and values in order to stop the modern world from stifling the charm and heart of Long Grove.

Who’s in the cast?

Mario Lopez will portray Brian Ortega in My Grown Up Christmas Wish. Previous holiday films of his include Lifetime’s Steppin’ Into the Holiday, Holiday in Santa Fe and Feliz NaviDAD. Fans will recognize Lopez from his role as AC Slater on Saved By the Bell and its Peacock reboot series of the same name. Mario is married to wife Courtney Lopez and they have three children together.

Courtney Lopez will play Nina Meyers in My Grown Up Christmas Wish. She and Mario married in 2012 and their kids’ names are Gia, Dominic and Santino. Courtney appeared with Mario in a few shows, including their own reality series titled Mario Lopez: Saved By The Baby on VH1, and on Peacock’s Saved By the Bell. Currently, she hosts a radio show with her husband called On with Mario Lopez.

Fun fact: Mario and Courtney’s son Dominic Lopez will appear in My Grown Up Christmas Wish as young Brian.

Any other details to know?

Mario, Courtney and Dominic Lopez filmed My Grown Up Christmas Wish in Chicago, Illinois in the beginning of April. But, they weren’t only in Chicago. The trio filmed in Long Grove, a suburb just outside of Chicago. Mario kept his fans up to date on the movie’s progress via Instagram.

“Going over lines with my boy…” Lopez wrote alongside a photo with his son, Dominic on set.
