The Dog Lover’s Guide to Dating Plot

Alex (Rebecca Dalton) is a professional dog trainer who’s more interested in her four-legged clients than their owners. This obviously makes her dating life difficult since she doesn’t easily trust people. Simon (Corey Sevier) has the opposite problem: he’s found the girl of his dreams, but he’s not a big dog person. He asks for Alex’s help in training him in the ways of dogs so he can show his girlfriend Chloe (Eliza King) that he can get along with her pug.

Alex reluctantly agrees, but her focus is split between this gig and raising money to save a local animal shelter. Simon offers up his marketing skills, and together they throw a fundraiser. As they spend more time together, Simon realizes he’s been barking up the wrong tree this whole time, and he’s been falling for Alex all along. Will the fundraiser be enough to keep the shelter open? And will Alex let her and Simon’s bond grow to make a relationship work?

Rebecca Dalton as Alex

Rebecca is a Canadian actress who’s held roles in My Babysitter’s a Vampire, Total Frat Movie, Spun Out, Life With Boys, The LA Complex, Degrassi: Minis and Hallmark’s The Good Witch. In addition, she’s appeared in many made-for-TV films such as The Christmas Wedding Planner, The Santa Squad and most recently Christmas in Big Sky Country. Rebecca currently lives in Indianapolis with Canadian IndyCar husband James Hinchcliffe.

Corey Sevier as Simon

Corey is a Canadian actor who gained fame after starring in the ’90s series Lassie. Then, Corey appeared in Little Men, Black Sash and North Shore. He’s recurred on programs like Hallmark Channel’s Cedar Cove and ABC’s Mistresses. Since then, Corey’s become a fixture in Hallmark and Lifetime holiday films such as Northern Lights of Christmas, Grounded for Christmas, Road Trip Romance and most recently Noel Next Door, which was part of Hallmark’s 2022 Countdown to Christmas event. Corey’s married to wife Kate Pragnell with whom he has a son named Lucas.
