The Beach House Plot

What is the movie about? Minka Kelly portrays Caretta “Cara” Rudland. Cara started a new life in Chicago when she left her southern roots to explore the big city. When she loses her job, she finds herself back in the south.

While there she reconnects with her mother Lovie (Andie MacDowell) who has been spending her time caring for a young pregnant friend of hers in her scenic beach home. Cara starts falling in love with the south all over again as she finds herself conserving the area’s wildlife and repairing the family beach house.

Sparks fly when she sees a former love, Brett (Chad Michael Murray). Could these two renew their romance?

Eventually, Lovie reveals a secret that could ruin the relationship she is trying to have with her daughter. The mother/daughter must do their best at keeping a certain dark cloud away from them, putting their difference aside as they save hundreds of sea turtles from certain death. A lot is learned: love requires sacrifice, family is forever and forgiveness will set you free.

Where Was It Filmed?

“The Beach House” which takes place on a beautiful scenic beach was filmed in the south, particularly Georgia and South Carolina according to Heavy. The cast got the pleasure of shooting the movie on Georgia’s Tybee Island and the Isle of Hope Marina in 2018. While most of the film was shot in Georgia, there were a couple of scenes filmed in Charleston, South Carolina.
