Great American Family Channel (GAC) will premiere a brand-new holiday movie this year during the 2023 GAC Christmas Lineup. Starring Candace Cameron Bure, My Christmas Hero follows a physician honoring fallen soldiers and her own family. Get more details about the film below, including plot and how to watch.

What is My Christmas Hero about?

My Christmas Hero follows orthopedic physician Nicole Ramsey who is on a mission to honor a special fallen soldier. She’s also working to bring much needed catharsis to her own family during the holiday season.

Candace Cameron Bure plays U.S. Army reservist Nicole Ramsey in the film. Per GAC, her character is “dedicated to serving military service members and their families at the Joint Military Base in Lacey, Washington, home of I Corps and the 62nd Airlift Wing.”

In addition to starring in the film, Candace is producing it under her Candy Rock Entertainment company. Bure announced the news of My Christmas Hero on Instagram, writing: “Very excited to present another Great American Christmas film this year with @candyrock.entertainment, and so proud of this movie and all it represents!”

Who’s in the Cast?

Candace Cameron Bure as Nicole Ramsey

Candace Cameron Bure is known to many fans for her roles in Full House and Fuller House. The 47-year-old actress was once known as the “Queen of Christmas” thanks to her many years of Hallmark holiday films. In spring of 2022, Bure signed a new deal with Great American Media and moved to GAC. Since then, she produced and starred in A Christmas Present, which took home two awards earlier this year.

As if that weren’t enough, Candace has her own eponymous clothing line and podcast. The busy wife and mom always makes time for her family though. “There’s nothing more important to me than being wife to Val and mama to my children,” she wrote alongside a family photo with kids Natasha, Maksim and Lev.

Back in April, Candace shared a snapshot from when Val came to visit her. “I know the Gram isn’t really for pictures anymore, but that’s never stopped me. My man came for a visit this weekend. I don’t care where we are in the world, when we are together, it’s HOME. ❤️ #HusbandAppreciationPost #NoMoreThan2WeeksApart.”

The only other cast member to be listed on IMDB is Kenneth Luong who will portray a Military Nurse.

While everyone else has yet to be announced, Candace did share a post that may have hinted at something. She posted with photographer Ricardo Hubbs, writing: “Ricardo is an amazing photographer who takes photos on set, not an actor. Which means he’s not my leading man in this film, but can you guess who is?!!!”

Gabriel Hogan

Gabriel Hogan is co-starring alongside Candace Cameron Bure in My Christmas Hero on Great American Family.

He is a 50 year old actor from Canada. Gabriel has two children with his wife, Inga Cadranel. He is 6’4”. You may recognize him from his role in Hallmark Channel movies such as Murder, She Baked and A Chocolate Chip Cookie Mystery.

Filming Location & Behind the Scenes

Martin Wood is the director of My Christmas Hero. Per Celebrating the Soaps, Candace posted a photo with Martin to her Instagram stories a couple weeks ago. Great American Media even reposted the article.

Just last month, Martin was tagged in a photo carousel by Pieter Stathis, a cinematographer. On May 4, Pieter captioned the post: “Our final week in Chilliwack filming scenes for Lacey joint army/airforce base.” If you recall, Lacey, Washington is where Candace’s new movie is set.

Plus, if you look closely at the slate in the photo below (also posted by Pieter), you can see that it reads My Christmas Hero. The photo below is posted from Langley, British Columbia, so they filmed in Canada.

The most compelling evidence comes from Pieter’s Instagram post tagging Candace, where you can see her donning a Santa hat as they film a scene using a long camera lens. Check it out below!

When does the movie premiere?

My Christmas Hero will premiere on Great American Family on Friday, November 24, 2023 at 8pm EST. It will kickoff the Thanksgiving weekend movie event followed by A Royal Date for Christmas and A Christmas for the Ages (starring Natasha Bure).
