Bill Abbott, President & CEO of Great American Media, couldn’t be more thrilled about the film’s Bluegrass debut. “It is a joy to have produced the beautiful motion picture, ‘Mr. Manhattan,’ down in the Bluegrass,” he said. Abbott praised Kentucky for its generous incentives and skilled crews, hinting at more filmmaking ventures in the state’s future. “The state built on bourbon and horse racing can now add filmmaking to its achievements,” he added, making it clear that Kentucky is becoming a new hotspot for cinematic magic.
In “Mr. Manhattan,” audiences will follow the journey of Mason Bradley, played by Carlos PenaVega, who promises to be the godfather to his brother’s newborn son while balancing his own ambitious career plans. Alexa PenaVega stars as Dani, Mason’s fiancée, who faces a shock when Mason is accepted to Columbia Law School. Fast forward ten years, and Mason is living the high life in New York City, only to have his world turned upside down by a devastating call that forces him to reevaluate his priorities. It’s a heartfelt narrative that promises to tug at the heartstrings and keep viewers on the edge of their seats.
Brady Nasfell, the producer of “Mr. Manhattan,” expressed deep gratitude for the local support that made filming in Kentucky possible. “We’re especially thankful for the incredible local support from VisitLEX and Asbury University,” Nasfell said. He also highlighted Kentucky’s competitive film incentive program as a key factor in bringing this production to life. The collaboration with Asbury University proved particularly fruitful, with over 25 students, faculty, and staff contributing their talents to the project.
One of those talented individuals, recent Asbury M.F.A. graduate Ali Stiefel, reflected on her experience working on the film. “‘Mr. Manhattan’ opened a world of possibilities that I didn’t even know existed in the film industry,” Stiefel shared. This hands-on experience has equipped her with the skills to pursue her own creative projects, a testament to the powerful impact of this local collaboration.
The premiere event, kicked off at 5:45 p.m. EST, was an unforgettable evening for all attendees. The film screening will began at 7:30 p.m., and with limited tickets available, it’s an opportunity not to be missed.
