Hallmark Channel continues its annual Countdown to Christmas lineup with the premiere of Holiday Hotline on November 19, 2023. Starring Emily Tennant and Niall Matter, the movie follows two strangers who connect via phone, not knowing they’re smitten in real life. What is Holiday Hotline about?

Abby Mitchell (Emily Tennant) enjoys cooking and helping others. So, when she moves to Chicago from London, she takes a job with “Holiday Hotline,” a phone line dedicated to helping people make the perfect Thanksgiving and Christmas turkeys. When she first begins work, Abby realizes her British accent may not connect with callers. She creates the character “Peggy” with an Americanized voice instead. One of her first callers is “John” (Niall Matter) a widower who’s trying to prepare a big holiday meal at home to make his young daughter happy. Later on, Abby meets Jack – aka “John” – in the real world. Neither recognizes the other, so she sees no issue starting to see him more often.

As “John” continues calling the hotline, “Peggy” helps him and they connect over the phone. Simultaneously, Abby becomes drawn to Jack’s family, but feels guilty since “Peggy” is connecting with a stranger. This leaves her feeling like she’s dating two people. When Abby finds out that her two love connections are with the same person, she’s conflicted. As Christmas approaches, Abby’s two identities come to light. Will Jack think she’s been lying to him? And most importantly, does he have feelings for the “real” her?

Who’s in the Cast of Holiday Hotline?

Emily Tennant as Abby Mitchell

Emily Tennant is a Canadian actress. Fans will know her from Hallmark Channel’s Cedar Cove, The Wedding March and Christmas in Canaan. Additional TV credits include voiceover work on Netflix’s Polly Pocket, the lead in Mr. Young and guest spots on shows like Riverdale, The Watchful Eye and Supergirl. In film, Tennant’s resume includes The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, USS Indianapolis: Men of Courage and Influencer. When she’s not working, she’s traveling, spending time with friends, her pet cat, or her beau Tyler Johnston.

Niall Matter as “John”/Jack

Niall Matter is a Canadian actor. After getting his start on the TV show The Best Years, he went on to Syfy’s Eureka and Primeval: New World. Other credits include guest roles on The Good Doctor, Constantine, iZombie and Supernatural. Niall also recurred on Melrose Place and 90210. For Hallmark Movies & Mysteries, Matter starred in Come Fly with Me, the Aurora Teagarden Mysteries franchise, Family History Mysteries: Buried Past and A Rip in Time. A few select Hallmark Channel titles he’s appeared in are Never Kiss a Man in a Christmas Sweater, When I Think of Christmas and Christmas at Dollywood. Niall is married to wife Sara with whom he has two children.
