Hallmark Movies & Mysteries continues its annual Miracles of Christmas event with the premiere of an all-new original movie, Heaven Down Here on December 14, 2023. Inspired by Mickey Guyton’s song “Heaven Down Here,” the film follows four people who are stranded at a diner on Christmas Eve. It joins other originals for the network such as To All a Good Night and Time for Her to Come Home for Christmas. Get details below, including plot, cast, photos and more.
Four people – Imani (Krystal Joy Brown), Dan (Richard Harmon), Felix (Juan Riedinger) and Clara (Tina Lifford) – are all stranded in a local diner on Christmas Eve when a snowstorm hits the town. Imani is a widowed mother of two who’s having trouble making ends meet. She reluctantly agrees to work the Christmas Eve shift, where she clashes with her boss Dan, who lacks Christmas spirit. Felix is a local pastor desperately trying to secure food to feed parishioners in need. But, his faith is challenged by his alienation of his son. Clara is a hospice nurse whose daughter is moving away, which causes her to question her place in this world. In addition, she’s also dealing with an obstinate patient named Nancy (Phylicia Rashad). Throughout the evening, these four bicker, bond and unwittingly provide each other with the answer to their respective prayers.
Krystal Joy Brown starred in Hallmark Channel’s Girlfriendship and is currently on Broadway’s Merrily We Roll Along. Brown appeared in Broadway’s Hair, Leap of Faith, Motown: The Musical and Hamilton. She recurred on Power Book III: Raising Kanan and The Equalizer. Other credits include guest spots on Law & Order SVU, Deadbeat, Castle and Sydney to the Max. Krystal is an activist and she lives in New York City.
Tina Lifford currently appears in Queen Sugar on OWN. Her breakout role was in South Central. Since then, Tina recurred on series like Scandal, Parenthood, Lincoln Heights, ER and CSI. Some of Lifford’s film credits include Grand Canyon, Blood Work, Colors, Hostage as well as Catch and Release. In addition, Tina is the founder and CEO of The Inner Fitness Project (TIFP).
Juan Riedinger is a Canadian actor who starred in Riverdale. Previous shows include Narcos, Claws and Good Behavior. In Canada, Riedinger starred in The Romeo Section; he also has three Leo Awards, which are the Canadian “Oscars.” Films include Jennifer’s Body, The Day the Earth Stood Still, and Hallmark Channel’s Hannah’s Law. Guest spots on shows like Fringe, Supernatural, Zoo, Motive, NCIS: Los Angeles and Motherland: Fort Salem round out his resume. The 42-year-old is married to wife Agam Darshi with whom he has two children.
Richard Harmon appeared in Game Set Love on Hallmark Channel. Other television appearances are Smallville, The Flash, Fringe, The Killing, Continuum, The 100 and most recently, The Night Agent and The Good Doctor. Films Harmon’s appeared in are Age of Adaline, I Still See You and Darkness Falls. The 32-year-old actor has 1.1 million followers on Instagram and keeps fans up-to-date with his posts.
Phylicia Rashad is an American actress who starred in NBC’s This is Us and the Creed film trilogy. Rashad rose to fame with roles on The Cosby Show and Cosby. Later on, Phylicia appeared in FOX’s Empire. Films include: Just Wright, Tyler Perry’s Good Deeds, For Colored Girls and A Raisin in the Sun. She was married three times and has two children.
