Family History Mysteries: Buried Past is a new series to join the 2023 lineup for the Hallmark Movies & Mysteries Channel. It will kick off the new year! The mystery will premiere on Sunday, January 8, 2023 at 7pm EST.

What is it About?

Sophie McClaren (Parrish) is a genealogist who’s an expert at digging up the past and
bringing families together. When her close friend Jonathan (Morgan David Jones, “Murdoch
Mysteries”) urgently needs to find a bone marrow donor, it brings his twin brother (and Sophie’s old flame) Jackson (Matter) back into her life. With Jackson’s help, Sophie must use her skills to track down the brothers’ long-lost birth father – a man they never even knew existed – in time to save Jonathan’s life. Ultimately, growing closer to Jackson on this search gives Sophie the push to finally explore the mystery of her own adoption.

Janel Parrish as Sophie McClaren

Janel is an American actress who you best recognize from the mystery-drama series, Pretty Little Liars. She was also in the Netflix hit movie series, “To All the Boys.”

The 34 year old actor was born in Honolulu, Hawaii. She married chemical engineer, Chris Long in 2018. Janel has over 10 million followers on Instagram. You can follow her here.

Niall Matter as Jackson

Niall is a Canadian-American actor and not an unfamiliar face to the Hallmark Channel. He starred opposite Candace Cameron Bure in the long running mystery series, Aurora Teagarden Mysteries as well as the popular series, When Calls the Heart.

At age 25, Niall had a huge accident out on the oil rig, nearly being crushed. He almost lost his right leg.

The 42 year old actor has been married to his wife Sara Bradley since 2016. Together, they have two children.

He currently does not have an Instagram profile of his own but he is active on Twitter. He and his co-star Janel have been promoting their new series. Check it out.
