This film, a true story, comes on the heels of other successes such as Black Girl Missing and The Girl Who Escaped: The Kara Robinson Story. It is also part of Lifetime’s Stop Violence Against Women campaign and is inspired by actual events of mothers trying to rescue their daughters from being trafficked. What is Buying Back My Daughter about?

Dana (Meagan Good) and Curtis’ (Roger Cross) 16-year-old daughter Alicia (Faith Wright) snuck out of the house to attend a party. This act of teenage rebellion quickly escalates into a widespread search spearheaded by Dana and the police. After almost a year of searching for her missing daughter, mother’s intuition kicks in and leads Dana into the world of online escort ads. This is where she, to her horror, finds her daughter, Alicia, for sale. Dana and Curtis spring into action, attempting to “buy their daughter back” to rescue her from the trafficker who abducted Alicia and caused her unspeakable harm. 

Ariana Madix stars as Karen, a police officer who helps investigate the case and has a personal connection to the story.

Who’s in the Cast of Buying Back My Daughter?

Meagan Good as Dana

Meagan Good is an actress known for her roles in Harlem and Shazam! Fury of the Gods. Lifetime movie fans will also recognize her from the 2021 film Death Saved My Life. Other notables include: Deliver Us from Eva, Roll Bounce, Stomp the Yard, Eve’s Bayou and Cousin Skeeter. She married DeVon Franklin in 2012; their divorce was finalized in 2022.

Ariana Madix as Karen

Ariana Madix is best known for starring in the popular Bravo reality series, Vanderpump Rules. She’s been a series regular on the show since 2013, and that’s where she and co-star Tom Sandoval dated for 9 years before splitting up due to his infidelity. Their breakup drama

became known as “Scandoval” across social media. She subsequently launched a merch line from her store called “Team Ariana.” It was reported this month by ET that she’s in talks to join the upcoming season of Dancing with the Stars.

Roger Cross (Arrow) and Faith Wright (Riverdale) also star as Curtis and Alicia, respectively. Roger actually posted a couple behind the scenes photos from set, including one with co-star Meagan Good. “Every #BBQKing needs his Queen @meagangood #BBMD,” he captioned a photo of the two of them together. From the Director

Filming began in March 2023. Director Troy Scott has been sharing the whole filming process each day on his Instagram. It took 15 days to film, and they actually just wrapped filming on April 12. “BBMD DAY 15of15-What an incredible experience this was and all I can truly say is thank you all for doing this movie justice,” he wrote.
