From April 19–25, more than 475 leaders and over 100 ministries will gather at the Museum of the Bible to read Scripture aloud from Genesis to Revelation in a continuous public reading.

As the United States approaches its 250th anniversary, a powerful nationwide initiative is inviting Americans to return to a timeless foundation: the Word of God.

“America Reads the Bible” will begin on April 18 with a live-streamed gathering from National Community Church in Washington, D.C. The event will be streamed by Great American Pure Flix, making it accessible to believers across the country who wish to participate in this historic moment of prayer and reflection.

A Call to Prayer and Renewal

The launch gathering will bring together believers, faith leaders, and well-known Christian voices who share a vision for renewed devotion to Scripture in daily life. Among those participating are:

  • Patricia Heaton
  • Candace Cameron Bure
  • Bunni Pounds

These leaders helped launch the initiative with a shared desire to encourage prayer, repentance, unity, and a return to God’s truth in homes and communities nationwide.

In a time many describe as filled with noise and uncertainty, the message is simple yet profound: God’s Word remains steady, true, and life-giving.

Seven Days of Continuous Scripture Reading

From April 19 through April 25, the heart of the initiative will take place at the Museum of the Bible, where more than 475 leaders and over 100 ministries will participate in a continuous public reading of the Bible—from Genesis to Revelation.

This uninterrupted reading serves as both:

  • A proclamation of faith
  • An invitation for Americans to listen, reflect, and reconnect with the hope found in Christ

Whether attending in person or joining via livestream, participants are encouraged to engage with Scripture not merely as history, but as the living Word that transforms hearts and guides lives.

Rooted in Scripture

The initiative draws inspiration from Psalm 119:105:

“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.”

Organizers hope this nationwide reading will remind individuals and families that God’s Word continues to illuminate the path forward—personally, spiritually, and nationally.

How to Participate

There are several ways to take part in “America Reads the Bible”:

  • Watch the April 18 kickoff livestream via Great American Pure Flix
  • Attend the public readings at the Museum of the Bible (April 19–25)
  • Follow along at home by reading daily passages
  • Gather with family or church members to listen and pray together

This initiative is not simply an event—it is an invitation. An invitation to slow down. To listen. To rediscover the foundation of faith.

As America marks 250 years, “America Reads the Bible” calls the nation to remember a truth many hold dear: that lasting renewal begins in the heart—and that God’s Word remains a guiding light for every generation.
