Real-life husband and wife, Carlos PenaVega and Alexa PenaVega star in Mr. Manhattan, a World Premiere Original motion picture exclusively on Great American Pure Flix, beginning Thursday, May 9 (8 p.m. ET).
Alexa and Carlos PenaVega are living the dream. The real-life couple get to act alongside each other in heartwarming films, including the upcoming Great American Christmas movie, Love at the Kettle. But, how did they meet? Do they have kids? What’s their life like outside of work? Get the answers to those questions and learn more about the talented duo below.
Alexa PenaVega is a 35-year-old actress and singer. She grew up with six siblings, including her actress sister, Makenzie Vega. Her most notable roles include the Spy Kids film franchise, Sleepover, and a variety of Hallmark Channel original movies like Ms Matched, Taking a Shot at Love and A Paris Proposal. She is married to Carlos Pena Jr., and they combined their last names (Vega and Pena) after their nuptials.
Carlos PenaVega is a 34-year-old actor and singer. He portrayed Carlos Garcia on the Nickelodeon series Big Time Rush. He is also a member of the band Big Time Rush, with former cast mates James Maslow, Kendall Schmidt and Logan Henderson. With his wife, Alexa, Carlos starred in many Hallmark movies, including Enchanted Christmas, Love at Sea, the Picture Perfect Mysteries franchise and Love in the Limelight.
Alexa and Carlos PenaVega met in 2012 at a Bible study. At the time, Alexa was not looking for love because she recently went through a divorce. So, she and Carlos became friends first. In 2013, they became engaged. Carlos and Alexa married on January 4, 2014. Their 10 year anniversary happened this year.
“10 years of being married to you! Excited for this new chapter that God has for us! #happyanniversary,” Carlos posted to his Instagram page, tagging his wife, Alexa.
Carlos and Alexa PenaVega’s first son, Ocean, was born in 2016. Their second son, Kingston, was born in 2019. Their first daughter, Rio, was born in 2021. Ocean is now 7 years old; Kingston is 4, but will be turning 5 at the end of June. Rio is 3 years old. Did you know that their kids have their own Instagrams? In November 2023, Alexa and Carlos announced they were expecting their fourth child. But, in April of this year, their daughter, Indy, was stillborn. Family, friends, and fans alike shared their condolences for the couple on social media. The support helped the couple rally during this difficult time, and Alexa thanked everyone in a video a month later.
Alexa and Carlos both appeared on season 21 of Dancing with the Stars. But, they did not dance with each other. They both were paired with professional dancers. Alexa was partnered with Mark Ballas and Carlos was paired with Witney Carson.
In addition to their impressive acting resumes, the couple have a YouTube channel together. Formerly titled LexLovesLos, it’s now La Vida PenaVega, and chronicles their family life. They’ve had quite the journey. In 2017, the PenaVegas moved from Los Angeles, California to Maui, Hawaii. They split their time between their home there, and fixing up a boat in Florida to sail around the world in.
However, in March of 2024, both Alexa and Carlos felt called to move to Tennessee. At the time of their video, their houseboat was up for sale and they relocated to a new house. The family seems to be enjoying their time so far.
Most recently, in terms of work, the couple starred in the Great American Pure Flix movie, Mr. Manhattan. They attended the premiere in Lexington, Kentucky, last month.
