Abducted By My Teacher: The Elizabeth Thomas Story is an original “ripped from the headlines” movie coming to the Lifetime Channel in 2023. It follows the true story of high school student, Elizabeth Thomas and her teacher, Tad Cummins. It will show us just how their relationship unfolded into a dramatic kidnapping and rescue. What is the movie about?

Elizabeth Thomas (Summer Howell) was just a 15-year-old high schooler who wanted to make friends when she caught the eye of Tad Cummins (Michael Fishman), a trusted, beloved and married high school teacher. Making her feel safe and loved, he groomed Elizabeth for months, and ultimately coerced her to go on the run with him after another student reported seeing him kiss Elizabeth. 

Elizabeth’s abduction set off a nationwide manhunt and her over month-long ordeal came to an end when the pair was discovered in northern California and Cummins was arrested. After enduring sexual abuse at the hands of Cummins, Elizabeth was left to face those in her home town who thought that she was responsible for her own kidnapping. Ultimately, Elizabeth bravely stood up in court and helped send the teacher she once trusted to prison.

Summer Howell as Elizabeth Thomas

Summer Howell portrays Elizabeth Thomas in the Lifetime movie airing in 2023. She is a young Canadian actress. She was born on May 22, 2004 and is 19 years old. In her Twitter bio, she writes “Chucky’s friend Alice in Curse of Chucky (and Cult). Watch me as Grace in Clouds and Rene in Hunter Hunter.”

In May, Summer shared a photo from the set of the movie with a cryptic message, “things are happeninggg.”

Michael Fishman as Tad Cummins

Michael Fishman portrays Tad Cummins in the Lifetime movie about Elizabeth Thomas.  He is a 41 year old actor, born in Los Angeles.  He is best known for playing D.J. Conner on Roseanne and most recently, The Conners.  

Michael was married from 1999 to 2017 to Jennifer Briner.  They have two children together.
