A Royal Christmas Crush is an all-new Hallmark Channel original movie premiering on July 8, 2023. Starring Katie Cassidy and Stephen Huszar, the film is part of the network’s annual Christmas in July event. It will kickstart the event, followed by another new movie premiere on July 15. A Royal Christmas Crush Plot

Architect Ava Jensen (Katie Cassidy) joins her Uncle Karl (Charlie Ebbs, “Six Degrees of Santa”) to build an ice castle for the Fríðrland Royal Family. Every year, the Royal Family gathers at the ice castle to relax and get away while they prepare for the annual Christmas Ball. While there, Ava meets the handsome bachelor and throne heir Prince Henry (Stephen Huszar).

Although the two are from different worlds, they become smitten with one another. As they learn more about each other, Henry asks Ava to help him with his big speech. However, the palace Logistics Director Brigitta (Angela Besharah, “Circuit Breakers”) wants to win the Prince over for her daughter Sigrid (Kathryn Kohut, “Fly Away with Me”). Brigitta sets out to sabotage the new budding romance before the Prince and Ava can get too close. But, hearts may already be melting in this winter wonderland ice palace.

Katie Cassidy as Ava Jensen

Katie Cassidy is an American actress known for her many ‘Scream Queen’ roles in horror films like When a Stranger Calls, Black Christmas and A Nightmare on Elm Street. Fans will also recognize Cassidy from the films Taken and Monte Carlo. As far as TV goes, Katie was a fixture on the CW for almost a decade, starring in Arrow, The Flash and Legends of Tomorrow as Laurel Lance/Black Canary/Black Siren. She’s also known for her recurring role on Gossip Girl for the network. In 2020, Cassidy executive produced and co-starred in the film I Love Us. Recently, she wrapped Fallout alongside Kate Bosworth. In addition, Katie runs her own production company called KEAC Productions. She was married to Matthew Rodgers in 2018; they divorced in 2021.

Another fun fact about Katie is that she is the daughter of David Cassidy, who starred in The Partridge Family. She also used to date singer and actor, Jesse McCartney.

Recently, Katie did post a photo with co-star Stephen Huszar that basically confirms they’re together offscreen as well! “Welp, cats out of the bag… Happy Monday! 😂❤️😍,” she captioned the photo. Cassidy liked fan comments congratulating them on their relationship too.

Stephen Huszar as Prince Henry

Stephen Huszar is a Canadian actor known for his roles on The Flash, Letterkenny and Hallmark’s Chesapeake Shores. In addition, Stephen starred in Hallmark Movies & Mysteries’ The Jane Mysteries: Inheritance Lost, Return to Christmas Creek, and the Ruby Herring Mysteries franchise. For Hallmark, Huszar appeared in Undercover Holiday and most recently Love in Glacier National: A National Park Romance. Other notables include feature films such as Milton’s Secret, Faces in the Crowd and Ferocious. When he’s not working, he’s posting behind the scenes from set, or touching tributes like the one he did for the late Chesapeake Shores star Treat Williams.
