How did Merritt Patterson and JR Ringer meet?
It’s unclear how exactly Merritt Patterson and JR Ringer met. However, the first photo Merritt ever posted of JR was in British Columbia, Canada aka: “[her] favorite place with [her] favorite people.” Some of her family are captured in the photo too. So, Merritt and JR were on the trip together with her family.
Not to mention, at this time in 2017, Merritt had finished her role on season 1 of The Royals and was still hanging around Los Angeles, California. Considering JR’s work is in California, it’s possible they could’ve met at an industry event, or just by chance at a festival, party, etc. By October 2017, it’s clear Merritt was smitten with JR, writing: “Dear Dallas, you were a 24hr blur but 100% worth it 🎶💕 #denimondenim.” The next year brought plenty of travels for the couple, including fun in the sun with Merritt’s family on vacation.
For Valentine’s Day in 2019, Merritt posted a sweet black and white photo of her and JR. It’s no wonder that the duo spent time together during the pandemic, eventually hiking (and social distancing!) in May 2020. But, perhaps the biggest jump on their relationship timeline took place in 2021 – more specifically, “08.12.21 🤍” as Merritt captioned the photo. That was the day of their engagement!
When did Merritt and JR get married?
On September 17, 2022 Merritt and JR married. Or, as Merritt captioned her wedding IG post: “09.17.22.” Their ceremony took place in Italy, specifically the romantic destination Masseria San Giovanni, which is in Puglia.
Patterson wore a lovely, luxuriously designed bridal gown by Rita Vinieris. Tania Nitsak from Rome did her hair and makeup. The couple looked very happy in their wedding photos!
While Merritt didn’t post anything for their one year anniversary, ironically, in September 2023, she and JR ventured to Greece for a friend’s wedding. See the photos here!

JR Ringer is a Los Angeles based talent agent. His clients include A-List stars such as Josh Hartnett, Sean Bean, Andy Allo and Jessica Stroup. He currently works at Verve Talent Agency in California. Prior to that, Ringer spent 14 years at ICM Partners (International Creative Management).
JR graduated from Kelly School of Business at Indiana University, according to Deadline, and worked his way through the ranks at ICM before moving to Verve in 2022. And, no, he does not represent his wife (Merrit’s with Atlas Artists).
