What is the Movie About?
Reba McEntire’s The Hammer follows Kim Wheeler (Reba McEntire), an outspoken, firecracker lawyer who is appointed Judge of the 5th District of Nevada and is one of the few traveling judges left in America. After the reigning judge passes away under suspicious circumstances, Kim finds herself covering a circuit that stretches between Las Vegas and Reno — a rugged, often desolate area where anything and everything can happen.
With gavel in hand, she lays down the law with a no-nonsense brand of justice, that quickly earns her the nickname “The Hammer.” As the investigation of the former judge’s death heats up, Kim’s sister Kris (Melissa Peterman), who runs the local brothel, suddenly becomes the prime suspect, and Kim must work even harder to make certain the appropriate justice is served.

Reba McEntire as Kim Wheeler
Reba is a 67 year old country music artist and actress. Throughout America, she is simply known as Reba. In 2001, her half hour sitcom, appropriately titled “Reba” premiered on the WB. The show successfully ran for six seasons before ending in 2007.
She has been married twice; first to Charlie Battles from 1976-1987 and then to Narvel Blackstock from 1989 – 2015. She has one son, Shelby Blackstock who is a 32 year old race car driver. Reba is currently in a relationship with Rex Linn since 2020.

Melissa Peterman as Kris
Melissa is a 51 year old American actress. You will probably recognize her best from her role as Barbara Jean in the WB series, “Reba.” She worked alongside Reba McEntire for years and two formed a close friendship which, “changed her life.”
She is 5’10” and has been married to her husband John Brady since 1999. They have one son together, Riley David Brady. Melissa shared a photo of she and her co-stars from the Lifetime movie to her Instagram page.
You may have also watched Melissa in a 2022 Hallmark Channel movie titled, “Haul Out the Holly” starring Lacey Chabert.
Rex Linn as Bart Crawford
Rex Linn is an American actor who is best known for his role of Sgt Frank Tripp on CSI: Miami. He was born and raised in the south, from Texas to Oklahoma.
Rex is Reba’s boyfriend in real life. He has been dating his co-star, Reba McEntire since 2020. In September 2022, he promoted an episode of Big Sky that he and Reba were in to Instagram.
