What is A Second Chance at Love About?
On the surface, Alicia (Alvina August) and Arnold’s (Jarod Joseph) marriage is picture perfect. But, if you look deeper, there’s an issue brewing between the couple. Arnold is ready to grow their family, but subconsciously Alicia is hesitant to the idea.
Instead of facing the problem head on, Alicia decides to work on her divorced parents Jack (Eriq La Salle) and Brenda’s (Gloria Reuben) dating life by setting them each up on a blind date dating app. Will it bring them all closer together or do more harm than good?

Eriq La Salle as Jack Roberts
Eriq La Salle starred as Dr. Peter Benton on NBC’s ER, for which he won NAACP Image Awards and SAG Awards, not to mention earned Primetime Emmy nominations and a Golden Globe nod. Currently, he works behind the camera executive producing and directing NBC’s Chicago PD. He’s also directed numerous episodes of Chicago Med, Chicago Justice, The Night Shift, and Under the Dome.
He directed an episode of Law & Order: Organized Crime last year, posting a photo with series star Chris Meloni and SVU‘s Mariska Hargitay. Eriq wrote: “Look who I got to hang with?! Always have a great time with these two! Check out the episode of Organized Crime I directed.”
Gloria Reuben as Brenda Roberts
Gloria Reuben actually co-starred with Eriq in NBC’s ER portraying Jeanie Boulet. Other television credits include: City on a Hill, Mr. Robot, and Marvel’s Cloak & Dagger. In film, she appeared in Lincoln, Admission, and Reasonable Doubt. Upcoming for Gloria are Showtime’s limited series The First Lady and the film Firestarter.
She’s very excited about Firestarter, writing on Instagram: “Now that I’ve had a minute to digest all the excitement surrounding the release of the official #Firestarter trailer, I’d just like to say how proud I am to be a part of this project. It was truly an incredible experience! I can’t wait for you all to see the film this May!! 🔥 🔥 🔥”
Gloria posted her reunion photo with Eriq La Salle on her Instagram too. “It’s wonderful to join the Hallmark family and to reunite with Eriq after so many years, especially in a completely different genre of storytelling” she wrote.
Alvina August as Alicia Owens
Alvina August is an actress most recently known for Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist on NBC. Prior to that, she was a series regular in The CW’s hit show Nancy Drew. Hallmark fans will know her from her leading role in Deliver by Christmas.
Jarod Joseph as Arnold Owens
Jarod Joseph is a Canadian actor known for The CW’s The LA Complex, as well as DirecTV’s original series Rogue. He’s held roles on ABC hit shows Motive, Once Upon a Time and Mistresses, plus The CW’s Arrow and The 100. Most recently, he starred in Hallmark Movies & Mysteries’ The Christmas Promise. He actually doesn’t have an Instagram or Twitter page, but a news page posted a look at the cast below.
