Great American Family is trying something new this holiday season. The network announced its first-ever ensemble Christmas original movie, A Little Women’s Christmas, which premieres this year as part of Great American Christmas 2024. The film’s cast includes many familiar faces to GAC audiences, including Trevor Donovan, Jen Lilley, Laura Osnes, Jesse Hutch, Jillian Murray and Julia Reilly. What is A Little Women’s Christmas about?
Per GAC’s press release, A Little Women’s Christmas “is a contemporary retelling of the beloved classic novel, following the lives and loves of the March sisters in a small Tennessee town at Christmas.” The classic novel is, of course, Little Women by Louisa May Alcott. This modern version will include a Christmas setting, and will also star Gladys Knight, who performs her new original Christmas song, “Joy.”
“A Little Women’s Christmas is a new Christmas classic in the making, with an incredible ensemble cast and an adaptation of an original story that is one of the best I have read,” said Bill Abbott, President & CEO, Great American Media. “Louisa May Alcott was intentional about focusing on the culture of young women, their hopes, ambitions, and dreams, and it remains one of the most widely read and beloved stories ever written,” Abbott concluded.
Who are Trevor Donovan and Jen Lilley from A Little Women’s Christmas?
Trevor Donovan as Friedrich “Fritz” Baehr
Trevor Donovan appeared in Twas the Text Before Christmas and Jingle Bell Princess for Great American Family. TV appearances include 90210, Sun Records and Dancing with the Stars. Trevor’s an avid animal lover, and proud dog dad. In addition to acting, he started Upstanders, an anti-bullying initiative.
Jen Lilley as Meg March
Jen Lilley starred in A Paris Christmas Waltz for GAC and the soap opera Days Of Our Lives. Lilley also appeared in Hallmark’s USS Christmas alongside Trevor Donovan, as well as Snowkissed, Mingle All The Way and Where Your Heart Belongs. For GAC, Jen appeared in Royally Wrapped for Christmas. She is married to husband Jason Wayne and they have two adopted sons and two daughters.
Meet Laura Osnes and Jesse Hutch from A Little Women’s Christmas

Laura Osnes recently appeared in Candace Cameron Bure Presents: Just In Time on GAC. Other credits include GAC’s A Dash of Christmas, as well as Hallmark’s Raise a Glass to Love and Christmas in Tahoe. Laura is also a singer and accomplished Broadway star. Her theater work includes leads in Grease, South Pacific, Anything Goes, Bonnie and Clyde, and Cinderella. Osnes is married to husband Nathan Johnson.
Jesse Hutch as John
Jesse Hutch recently appeared in Great American Family’s original movie, A Christmas Blessing. Additional credits include GAC’s B&B Merry alongside Jen Lilley, Hallmark’s Christmas in Toyland and the upcoming movie Homestead. On TV, Jesse held roles in American Dreams, About a Girl and Hallmark’s Cedar Cove. The Canadian actor is married to wife Loreili with whom he has three children.

Jillian Murray as Jo March
Jillian Murray starred in A Brush With Christmas and Christmas Keepsake for GAC. She appeared in Prescription for Love alongside Trevor Donovan. Murray also appeared in A Dangerous Date for Lifetime and the made-for-TV holiday movie Christmas in the Pines. Fans may recognize Jillian from her roles on Sonny with a Chance or Code Black as well. She is married to husband Dean Geyer.
Julia Reilly as Amy March
Julia Reilly held the lead role in Great American Family’s first original series, County Rescue. A Little Women’s Christmas is her first-ever GAC original movie. But, it’s not her first holiday movie. Julia appeared in the 2023 TV movie A Perfect Christmas Pairing. Additional credits include episodes of Gritz, Dead Silent and Stranger Things, as well as The Secrets She Keeps and A View to Kill For on Lifetime.
