What is Twas the Text Before Christmas about?

Addie (Merritt Patterson) is a New York City chiropractor. One day, she mistakenly receives a text from “Nana.” The accidental text turns into a friendship between Nana and Addie who now communicate regularly. Nana invites Addie to spend the holiday in Vermont. It is picture-perfect and exactly as Nana described except for one surprise. Nana’s single son, James (Trevor Donovan), a traveling doctor is also home for the holidays. Over three consecutive years, James and Addie are together during the holidays. Although, it isn’t until they are both single that they begin to see each other in a different light.

Merritt Patterson as Addie

Merritt Patterson is an actress who appeared in GAC’s Jingle Bell Princess and Catering Christmas. Patterson also starred in films such as A Royal Winter and The Christmas Cottage for Hallmark. Other credits include Ravenswood, Radio Rebel and The Royals. In 2022, Merritt married longtime boyfriend JR Ringer. The two enjoy traveling, hiking and spending time with friends and family.

Trevor Donovan as James

Trevor Donovan is an actor who starred in the hit CW series 90210. Since then, he’s appeared in various Hallmark Channel films like Marry Me at Christmas, Snowcoming, USS Christmas and Nantucket Noel. In 2021, Donovan appeared alongside Merritt Patterson in GAC’s Jingle Bell Princess. Most recently, Trevor reunited with his former 90210 co-star Jessica Lowndes in the Great American Family Channel film A Harvest Homecoming. When he’s not working, Trevor is active on social media and has three dogs to take care of.

How did Merritt Patterson and JR Ringer meet?

It’s unclear how exactly Merritt Patterson and JR Ringer met. However, the first photo Merritt ever posted of JR was in British Columbia, Canada aka: “[her] favorite place with [her] favorite people.” Some of her family are captured in the photo too. So, Merritt and JR were on the trip together with her family.

Not to mention, at this time in 2017, Merritt had finished her role on season 1 of The Royals and was still hanging around Los Angeles, California. Considering JR’s work is in California, it’s possible they could’ve met at an industry event, or just by chance at a festival, party, etc. By October 2017, it’s clear Merritt was smitten with JR, writing: “Dear Dallas, you were a 24hr blur but 100% worth it  #denimondenim.” The next year brought plenty of travels for the couple, including fun in the sun with Merritt’s family on vacation.

For Valentine’s Day in 2019, Merritt posted a sweet black and white photo of her and JR. It’s no wonder that the duo spent time together during the pandemic, eventually hiking (and social distancing!) in May 2020. But, perhaps the biggest jump on their relationship timeline took place in 2021 – more specifically, “08.12.21 ” as Merritt captioned the photo. That was the day of their engagement!

When did Merritt and JR get married?

On September 17, 2022 Merritt and JR married. Or, as Merritt captioned her wedding IG post: “09.17.22.” Their ceremony took place in Italy, specifically the romantic destination Masseria San Giovanni, which is in Puglia.

Patterson wore a lovely, luxuriously designed bridal gown by Rita Vinieris. Tania Nitsak from Rome did her hair and makeup. The couple looked very happy in their wedding photos!

While Merritt didn’t post anything for their one year anniversary, ironically, in September 2023, she and JR ventured to Greece for a friend’s wedding. See the photos here!

So, who is JR Ringer?

JR Ringer is a Los Angeles based talent agent. His clients include A-List stars such as Josh Hartnett, Sean Bean, Andy Allo and Jessica Stroup. He currently works at Verve Talent Agency in California. Prior to that, Ringer spent 14 years at ICM Partners (International Creative Management).

JR graduated from Kelly School of Business at Indiana University, according to Deadline, and worked his way through the ranks at ICM before moving to Verve in 2022. And, no, he does not represent his wife (Merrit’s with Atlas Artists).

Chateau Christmas Movie Plot

It follows Margot Hammond, a world-renowned pianist played by Merritt Patterson as she gets unexpected time off to spend Christmas with her family. They spend the holiday at their favorite hotel, Chateau Newhaus. This comes at a great time for Margot after receiving yet another bad review, all she wants to do is take a break from music in hopes of rediscovering her passion for the piano.

However, it’s not all relaxation at Chateau Newhaus when she runs into her ex-boyfriend and former bandmate Jackson, played by Luke Macfarlane. After much convincing, he pushes her to headline the sold-out annual Christmas Concert at the Chateau. Through all the time they’re spending together working on the show, their feelings for one another come flooding back. Will they take the plunge and risk heartbreak again or go their separate ways?

Filming Location Revealed

Chateau Christmas starring Merritt Patterson and Luke Macfarlane featured some beautiful backdrops during their movie. Where exactly were they filming? The actors were in British Columbia, Canada which is a popular spot for many Hallmark movies. The two were at the beautiful Fairmont Chateau Whistler.

It features 519 rooms, beautiful spa-like pools, a golf course, a spa, yoga studio, and various restaurant options to quench all your needs. You can plan a trip to the picturesque resort and feel as though you are reliving your favorite Hallmark movie.

Does Luke Macfarlane Actually Play the Cello?

Fans noticed that Luke Macfarlane was playing the cello in his Hallmark Channel movie, “Chateau Christmas.” However, was that really him? Many may not know this about Luke, but he does in fact play the cello. He is musically talented and also plays the trumpet!

Fun fact! At first the movie called for Luke’s character to play the violin, but when the production team found out he knew how to play the cello, they wrote that in to the new script.
