What is ‘Sand Dollar Cove’ About?
Aly Michalka portrays Eli, a real estate development project manager who visits Connecticut on business, when her company sends her to the seaside Connecticut town. Eli is in Sand Dollar Cove to acquire the beachfront property they carefully chose as the home of their beautiful new resort. Brody (Chad Michael Murray), who resides in Sand Dollar Cove holds the deed and wants to make sure the town’s pier remains intact. After all, so many amazing memories have been made by the locals at the beloved pier.
It’s not all business though when an undeniable connection grows between Eli and Brody. The more time they spend together, the closer they get as Elli tries to find a way to make the deal work. As Elli becomes more invested in the town and its locals, it inspires her to create a design that everyone will be happy with.
Who’s in the Cast?
Aly Michalka as Elli
Aly Michalka is an actress and singer-songwriter. You may recognize her best as being part of the musical duo Aly & AJ alongside her sister. She then rose to fame with her starring role as Keely Teslow in “Phil of the Future” on Disney Channel. Michalka also recurred on “Two and a Half Men” and has appeared in FX’s “Anger Management.”
The 32-year old California born actress has been married to her husband, Stephen Ringer since 2015. In 2013, they began dating after Aly met the independent film producer on the set of Sequoia. Only a year later they got engaged and married in a small ceremony in Italy in 2015.
Aly loves Italy! It appears that she visited again at the end of May 2021. She posted this photo to her Instagram with the caption, “Ciao for now.”
Chad Michael Murray as Brody
Chad Michael Murray rose to fame with fan favorite series, “Dawson’s Creek” co-starring Katie Holmes and “Gilmore Girls.” It didn’t stop there. Fans remember him as Lucas Scott in the Warner Brothers television hit, “One Tree Hill” from 2003-2012. He won three Teen Choice Awards from the hit show.
Chad also starred alongside Julie Gonzalo and Hilary Duff in the hit movie, “A Cinderella Story.” He most recently finished filming “Ted Bundy: American Boogeyman,” which is slated for release in August 2021.
He also added author to his long list of accomplishments. He published two novels: Everlast and American Drifter: An Exhilarating Tale of Love and Murder.
The 39 year old actor is a native of New York but currently resides in California with his wife and two children. He was previously married to his “One Tree Hill’ co-star, Sophia Bush from 2005-2006 before marrying Sarah Roemer in 2015.
The first line of his Instagram bio is inspiring! It reads, “Put God & family 1st, the rest will figure itself out.” Look at this sweet photo of Chad with his daughter. He admits nothing is better than those snuggles!

Where Was the Movie Filmed?
The movie is set in a small quaint beachfront town in Connecticut.
According to News 8, the stars of the film came to shoot “Sand Dollar Cove” at Carson’s Store in the Groton Village in Connecticut. Carson’s store has been in the town since 1907. The town staple store was transformed into the Sand Dollar Cafe which is part of the movie. See a photo here.
