My Christmas Guide on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries – Plot & Cast

My Christmas Guide is a new original movie premiering November 2, 2023 on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. It’s part of the network’s Miracles of Christmas event. Starring Amber Marshall and Ben Mehl, the film follows a vision-impaired professor who works with his daughter and a guide dog trainer and learns lessons on trust and love. What is My Christmas Guide about? 

Trevor (Ben Mehl) is a college professor who recently and suddenly lost his sight. He is raising his daughter Annie (Ava Weiss, “When Hope Calls”) as a single dad, and is shaken by this incident. To make matters worse, a construction project at his work poses danger for him. So, the department head advises him to take some time off until the project is complete.

Concerned for her dad, Annie convinces him to visit Best Friend Dog Guides, a facility that trains seeing-eye dogs for the vision impaired. There they meet Peyton (Amber Marshall), who introduces them to the perfect guide dog named Max. As Peyton trains Max with Trevor, the two bond as Peyton helps Trevor regain confidence. But, when Trevor’s forced to take leave from the university because of the construction, his trust in Max is tested. Trevor must get outside of his comfort zone. But, he will have to turn to the support of others, including Peyton, to restore his confidence in his abilities.

Who’s in the Cast of My Christmas Guide?

Ben Mehl as Trevor

Ben Mehl is a Canadian-American actor. He appeared in the Netflix series You as Dante, the blind librarian. Mehl also teaches acting in New York City. He’s proud to represent low vision characters on screen. While not fully blind, Ben has Stargardt’s disease and is legally blind.

Amber Marshall as Peyton

Amber Marshall is a Canadian actress. One of her most prolific roles is that of Amy Fleming on Heartland. Marshall has starred in over 200 episodes since 2007. A few years earlier, she portrayed the title role in The Elizabeth Smart Story. You may also know Amber from the made-for-TV movie Love in Harmony Valley. She’s married to photographer Shawn Turner.
