Gilded Newport Mysteries: Murder at the Breakers Plot
In July 1895, New York’s elite gathered in Newport, Rhode Island for a summer of balls, garden parties, and yacht races. 21-year-old Newport Observer reporter Emma Vanderbilt-Cross (Ali Skovbye) is covering the events. But, articles are the last thing on her mind when her half-brother Brady Cross (James Drew Dean) is arrested for the murder of Goddard (Cesare Scarpone), the Vanderbilt business advisor. Emma decides to prove her half-brother’s innocence and discovers that Goddard had more than his fair share of enemies.
With the help of her crush, police detective Jesse Whyte (Danny Griffin), housekeeper Nanny O’Neal (Gillian Barber) and coroner’s assistant Harriet Rice (Amira Anderson), Emma’s investigation is both dangerous and intriguing. So intriguing, in fact, that she’s attracted the attention of the town’s mysterious new stranger (Nathan Witte). As Emma grows closer to the truth, Goddard’s murderer goes on the offensive, stopping at nothing to keep their identity a secret.

Ali Skovbye as Emma
Ali Skovbye appeared in Firefly Lane on Netflix. She also appeared in movies like Imperfect High, His Perfect Obsession, Secrets of My Stepdaughter, One Christmas Eve and Campfire Kiss. Additional TV credits include You Me Her, Once Upon a Time, The Man in the High Castle and Hallmark’s When Calls the Heart. The 21-year-old actress is the younger sister of Riverdale’s Tiera Skovbye.
Danny Griffin as Jesse
Danny Griffin starred in Fate: The Winx Saga. Other television appearances include Get Even, So Awkward and Free Rein. Danny also starred in films such as Christmas Survival and The Gentlemen. Griffin was in a relationship with Winx co-star Abbey Cowen for a couple of years from 2021-2022. But, they no longer follow each other or post one another on their respective social media pages. The 26-year-old British actor has an impressive 1.2 million followers on Instagram alone.
Nathan Witte as Derrick
Nathan Witte appeared in Hallmark Movies & Mysteries’ Cut, Color, Murder and Hallmark Channel’s My Best Friend’s Bouquet. Nathan’s other film credits include Romance to the Rescue, Must Love Christmas and The Nine Kittens of Christmas, as well as Lifetime’s Greed: A Seven Deadly Sins Story and the Merry Liddle Christmas trilogy. Episodes of Realization, Charmed, Batwoman and Superman & Lois round out his resume. Witte also does private acting coaching, meditation and hand-to-hand combat.
