It’s a new era of Aurora Teagarden on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. The new original movie is aptly called Aurora Teagarden Mysteries Something New. Aurora Teagarden Mysteries Something New: Plot
Young Aurora Teagarden (Skyler Samuels) is back home near her mother Aida (Marilu Henner) to pursue her grad degree. Working as a teaching assistant in a crime fiction class, Aurora is struggling on a thesis. At night, she waitresses at the local diner in Lawrenceton. There, she shares her love of true crime research with soon-to-be-married friend Sally and policeman Arthur (Evan Roderick). When Sally’s fiancé doesn’t show up to the wedding rehearsal, Maid of Honor Aurora and Arthur search for him. They discover a body, and everyone assumes it’s Sally’s fiancé. But, it’s not – it’s someone else…and that means Sally’s fiancé is the main suspect.

Skyler Samuels as Young Aurora Teagarden
Skyler Samuels rose to fame thanks to her titular lead role in Nine Lives of Chloe King. That role won her a Teen Choice Award for Breakout Actress. Samuels continued on with roles in shows like Scream Queens and The Gifted. Last year, Skyler starred in The Gabby Petito Story. Upcoming for her this summer is her role in the feature film Meg 2: The Trench.
Back in March, Skyler shared her excitement for taking on the role of Aurora in the prequel. “Surprise…I’m the new Aurora 💁♀️🔎📝 So excited to be joining the mysterious and fun world of Aurora Teagarden. Let the mystery solving begin! @hallmarkchannel,” she wrote.
Evan Roderick as Arthur
Evan Roderick starred in Hallmark’s A Tale of Two Christmases and Autumn in the City. He also starred in Secrets of a Marine’s Wife and V.C. Andrews’ Landry Family. Evan co-starred in the popular Netflix series Spinning Out and has guested on shows such as Arrow and Project MC2.
When he’s not working, he enjoys music. Evan’s a self-taught singer and guitar player. The Canadian actor is also dating model Dion Karas.
Marilu Henner is a well-known actress with 72 films and two sitcoms on her resume. Henner has starred in 27 films for Hallmark, 19 of those being the Aurora Teagarden franchise. The two classic sitcoms were Taxi and Evening Shade. Most recently, Marilu starred in Disney Plus’ Haunted Mansion. Aside from acting, she’s also 7-time Broadway performer, and has been touring the country with her one-woman show Music & Memories with Marilu Henner!
She was married three times. Since 2006, she’s been married to Michael Brown. Marilu has two children from her previous marriage to Robert Lieberman. Their sons’ names are Nicholas and Joseph. See photos of Henner and her sons below.

Where Did They Film?
You may be wondering where they filmed Aurora Teagarden Mysteries: Something New on the Hallmark Channel. This is the first mystery after Candace Cameron Bure left the channel to go to GAC. It was filmed in Canada, just like many of the other Hallmark Channel movies.
