Here is what she had to say about 2020. “As I reflect on 2020: the year of awakening & all that it has and is still teaching us, I am thankful for another year of life. More than anything, we have been shown just how interconnected we all are & just how much our actions or complacencies affect one another. We cannot go back to the status quo; we cannot unsee what we have seen. We must set it right in our lifetime! We all have platforms & the power to influence but fake showy solidarity doesn’t cut it anymore. We have much work to do. We must hold our leaders accountable, we must make justice just again, we must challenge images we see in film/TV, history books & in the media that re-enforce our false beliefs about each other. We must have uncomfortable conversations. We must lift up voices that have been silenced, stories that have been ignored far too long. We are not beyond redemption. I want to believe that the best parts within us will triumph. I want a life that is meaningful for my children so that they can look at our generation with pride.”
