Hallmark Channel continues rolling out new movies this spring with the premiere of A Winning Team on March 18, 2023. The film joins other originals like Game of Love and A Paris Proposal. Get details on the plot, cast, photos and more below.
A Winning Team Plot
After losing her job, professional soccer player Emily Chen (Nadia Hatta) goes back home to spend time with her widowed brother. When she accidentally injures her niece Ava’s coach, Ian Vermette (Kristoffer Polaha), she covers for him and leads Ava’s team to the playoffs. But when their differing coaching styles threaten the team’s shot at the championship, they begin to warm up to each other on and off the field. They also make strides towards healing old wounds as they form this new relationship. When Emily gets an offer from her old coach to return to soccer professionally, her romantic relationship with Ian is on the line. Can they get back on the same team before the big game?

Nadia Hatta as Emily Chen
Nadia is a Chinese-Canadian actress known for starring in the Netflix series Away. Other notables of hers include Fun Taiwan, Head Above Water and Babylon Fog. She currently resides in Canada and graduated from New York University’s famed Tisch program. At MTV ASIA in China, she was a VJ and wrote, produced, directed and hosted a seven-part miniseries on New York Fashion Week.
Kristoffer Polaha as Ian Vermette
Kristoffer is an American actor who was most recently seen in the summer blockbuster Jurassic World Dominion. You may also recognize him from his roles on Life Unexpected, Get Shorty, Condor and last year’s Buried in Barstow. Hallmark Channel fans will know Kristoffer from his various movie roles for the network, including We Wish You a Married Christmas and the upcoming A Biltmore Christmas. He’s married to wife actress Julianne Morris and they have three children together.
