Hallmark Channel is airing A Royal Runaway Romance in 2022 as part of their ‘Spring into Love’ event. It follows the successful premiere of Just One Kiss on April 2. What is A Royal Runaway Romance About?
A Royal Runaway Romance follows Princess Amelia (Philippa Northeast) of Bundbury as she prepares to take over the throne when her mother, Queen Ava, steps down next year. Amelia finds herself falling for an American artist named Wes (Andre Anthony) who’s painting her portrait. But, her mother doesn’t approve. So, when Wes has to go back to Chicago, Amelia decides to use her uncle’s birthday as an excuse to go to the USA too. The only snag? Her uncle’s house is in Beverly Hills, which is nowhere near Chicago.
After her mother insists on traveling with her and takes her passport away, Amelia doesn’t know how she’s going to make it to Chicago. Making matters more complicated, her uncle’s bodyguard Grady (Brant Daugherty) is assigned to stay with her at all times. Not one to be easily deterred, Amelia decides to “borrow” Grady’s car to drive to Chicago. When Grady discovers this, he tells Amelia’s uncle. Surprisingly, her uncle agrees to help her. However, there is one condition: Grady has to go with her on this trip.
As they hit the open road, Amelia becomes enthralled with America. She realizes this is her last chance at freedom before she must assume Queen responsibilities. Along the way, she and Grady open up to each other. Shockingly, they discover they have more in common than either thought. The closer they get to Chicago, the more they realize it’s not so much about the journey as it is the person you spend it with.

Who’s in the Cast of A Royal Runaway Romance?
Philippa Northeast as Amelia
Philippa Northeast is an Australian actress. The 27 year old portrayed Evelyn MacGuire in the popular Australian soap opera Home and Away. She starred in 341 episodes from 2013-2017. In 2019, she played the titular character in the film Standing Up for Sunny. But, this is her Hallmark Channel debut.
She has an adorable dog named Rani. Rani is a blue heeler, and Philippa’s had her for two years. On Rani’s first birthday, Philippa posted a nice photo, writing: “This little wildflower has been in the world for one year today. Rani, you’re joy 💜.”
Another thing you will find on Philippa’s Instagram? Wanderlust photos. She’s an avid traveler. Japan, Italy, and trips to the states in cities like LA are all places Philippa has been.
Brant Daugherty as Grady
Brant Daugherty is an American actor. He’s best known for his role as Noel Kahn on Pretty Little Liars. But, Hallmark fans will recognize him from the 2021 film The Baker’s Son.
Recently though, he’s taken on a new role: father! He and wife Kim Daugherty have a son together. His name is Wilder and he celebrated his first birthday on March 24. Brant posted a heartwarming photo to Instagram. He wrote: “It’s been the best year of my life because of you. Happy first birthday, my son ❤️.”
Apparently, he also used to model. Check out this throwback photo he posted last year. Brant joked: “Found this old photo and wtf am I doing here? Wrong answers only.
